Persistent by design
The referral doesn’t end when it’s triaged. Neither does Heka.
Most tools stop at intake. Heka maintains the state of the whole episode: what has happened, what is owed, and what it is still waiting on. When the world goes quiet, Heka notices that too.
Completeness requirements follow Alberta’s QuRE standard plus each clinic’s own rules, and Alberta Referral Pathways timelines are encoded from day one. Results are recognized as they arrive through connected sources such as the EMR, Netcare, eDelivery, Connect Care or fax.
Because Heka maintains the states, clinics also get answers the appointment book cannot give: demand by condition, time to triage, time to first response, time to consultation, and where demand consistently exceeds capacity.

Triage
The physician decides. Heka prepares everything around the decision.
The physician reviews a summary, the evidence behind it, and a proposed urgency with its rationale. Approve it or change it. Clinical decisions stay with the physician, always, and Heka knows when not to act on its own.
Every proposal carries a confidence score, and low confidence work is routed to a human. Heka drafts acknowledgements, responses and, where appropriate, e-advice from physician templates. Everything clinical is reviewed before it leaves the clinic.
